Fifii's pottery pumpkin |
Th month, believe it or not, actually flew in. And I'm actually kinda sad about it.
I didn't think I'd be able to do it. I really worried I'd not be able to stand it, that I'd go crazy. But really, I had so much fun. It's insane, but I really enjoyed wearing this dress, and I've kinda fallen into deep love with it. I don't want to part with it! This trusty dress has earned a very prominent space in my continuing wardrobe.
Will I do it again next year? I certainly plan on it!!
So, The Dress today. Halloween, the perfect finale.
Like any good season ending, it came in two parts. By day, I was a low key blonde vampire. I wore The Dress with a black t-shirt over it, red and black striped tights, courtesy of Lyndsey, Lolly's nursery teacher (thanks, Lyndsey!), and red tartan shoes. And semi-dramatic make-up. (This photo was taken late in the day, so the make-up had faded a fair bit, and the lipstick was gone.)
But come night fall, whaa haa ha ha ha, I became a night vampire, with dark black dramatic make-up, a black wig, black lace gloves and a vampire cape, not pictured. I vant to suck your blood, bla-blah bla-blah..
Actually, I don't want to suck your blood. I was actually Mavis from Hotel Transylvania, and she doesn't want to suck your blood at all. Can you see the resemblance? Bla-blah bla-blah..
We had a great Halloween. We went over to a friend's house for Galoshins (Trick or Treating). The kids were so excited knocking on doors and telling their jokes and being given SWEETIES! They could hardly believe what was happening to them!
Fifii's joke:
Knock knock.
Who's there?
Boo.
Boo who?
You don't have to cry, it's only a joke.
Lolly's joke:
What kind of witch lives on the beach?
A sandwich!
Except hers always went more like this:
Wanna hear MY joke?
What witch... which witch... What witch lives on the beach a sandwich! IS THAT IT, MUM?!!
She was so freaking adorable. She insisted on telling her joke at each door, and at one point she actually gave BACK the sweeties because she hadn't been given a chance to tell her joke, and THEN she took the sweeties back. She also kept running away from the doors so pleased she'd told her joke, then exclaiming, 'OH! My sweets!!' and running back to collect her hard earned goodies.
Fifii was great too. She was a total go-getter, determined to get every door, and at one door, when she rang but no one answered, she actually tried to open the door herself! Uh, no, Fifii, you can't do that!
Scarecrow (Wizard of Oz) & Princess Leia (Star Wars) |
Jaguar, in case you're wondering, stayed in at my friend's house and helped hand out goodies in his adorable glow in the dark skeleton sleep suit.
It was a great night. Our first foray into the world of Trick or Treating, and let me tell you, we have enough sweeties and bags of crisps to last us the rest of the year.
The kids had a blast, and all three fell asleep in the car on the way back home. I had to haul them all up the stairs and insist they change into jammies and brush their teeth before they collapsed into bed and went instantly to sleep. As for me, I'm ready to take off this goth make-up, get a shower, and hit the hay myself.
Tomorrow is my first day back to work after maternity leave, and I have done nothing to prepare for it.
Power Ranger, Scarecrow, Princess Leia and Yoda |
Leia hair, Yoda ears and Scarecrow hay, all knitted by Granny. I love that they all three got a special little bit from Granny for Halloween this year!
